We did this salt and ice themed sensory play activity when Miss Genesis was around 18 months old. She loved it! It was a bit messy so I’d suggest doing this one outside, but the set up was very easy. All we did was dump some ice cubes on a small baking sheet and add in some salt and random toys.
Miss Genesis had a great time scooping the salt out onto the ice and playing with it as it melted. At one point we added in some blue food coloring. If we’d had some toy Arctic animals to add it would have made the perfect Arctic Small World Play, but we didn’t.
Miss Genesis played with this one for almost an hour before she became bored. It was her first time really learning about ice so it was a great sensory activity for her too. This one would be great for babies, toddlers and even older kids too. It would also make a great science activity for any homeschool curriculum! We will definitely be doing it again!
